Long Island native Joe Landi began taking guitar lessons at twelve years of age, and decided to devote himself mainly to classical guitar three years later.
Since then, he has been actively teaching and performing around Long Island, with performances also in upstate New York and in New York City. He received his bachelor's of music degree at the prestigious Mannes College of Music in New York City, where he studied classical guitar and composition with Frederic Hand and David Tcimpidis.
Joe's diverse musical interests include classical, contemporary classical, modern, rock, jazz, and electronic music. His background in jazz and rock guitar provide him with a unique skill set for playing the instrument. While a member of the Connetquot High School Wind Machine Jazz Ensemble, he won the award for Best Overall Ensemble at the 2012 Festivals of Music jazz band competition.
As well as performing and teaching, Joe also composes and arranges for the guitar, including works for solo guitar, duo guitar, and chamber music. His own guitar arrangements include tunes from video games, films, and rock music. He frequently performs his own compositions and arrangements, with appearances at the Classical Guitar Society of Upstate New York's Fall Festival, the Mid-Hudson Classical Guitar Society, and the Guitar Foundation of America's New York City Regional Symposium.
